Neyire Ashworth - clarinet; Paul Barritt - violin/viola; Daniel Becker - piano
The Zimro Trio is an exuberant force on the chamber music scene. Focusing on the great works for clarinet, violin/viola and piano, they also draw on traditional & folk music for inspiration. This engaging trio boasts three of the UK's premier chamber musicians. Taking inspiration from the 1920s virtuoso clarinettist Simeon Bellison and his Russian Zimro Ensemble, Neyire, Paul and Daniel are all soloists in their own right and have a lot of fun when they come together.
Neyire is a multi-award winning clarinettist with a reputation for entertaining and versatile approaches to performance. She tours frequently, visiting concert venues, community halls and schools far and wide, performing unique programmes of solo works through to her one-woman shows, Stolen Voices and Stenclmusic. Her broad discography includes several discs with the New London Chamber Ensemble.
Paul is one of Britain’s most sought-after violinists in the solo and chamber music field. He has also become one of Europe’s foremost directors of chamber orchestras, a role that has taken him worldwide to the major concert platforms. His distinguished discography includes the complete Beethoven sonatas with James Lisney.
Daniel has built a reputation for insightful interpretations of 20th and 21st century music. He was first prizewinner at the British Contemporary Piano Competition in 2003. He performs regularly as a solo recitalist and chamber musician. He gave his debut performance at the Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York and went on to make his Paris debut in May 2005 at the Salle Cortot and his Wigmore Hall debut in June 2005.
